Getting to UC
Arriving by Car
If you are personally driving to University Center or if you are being dropped off by a parent, please keep the following information mind:
- University Center does not own, operate, or validate any parking
- Parking is available at nearby lots on a daily and monthly basis; we recommend checking SpotHero for the best rates. Please keep in mind that parking in downtown Chicago is expense. We highly recommend not bringing your car unless it is absolutely required.
- University Center has a loading/unloading dock that can be used to unload your vehicle
- The loading dock is located directly behind (to the east) of University Center. Please enter the dock from Ida B Wells Drive (the north end of the dock).
- All vehicles using the dock must be moved from the dock immediately after unloading
- Any vehicle left unattended on the dock for more than 15 minutes will be towed at the owner’s expense
- Before unloading your vehicle, you must check in and receive your UC ID. Please enter University Center through the main entrance, in the middle of the block on State Street
- Speed packs (big boxes on wheels) will be available to check out to help you unload quickly. A state ID will be held until the speed pack is returned
- Speed packs must be returned within 30 minutes
Arriving by Plane
If you are arriving to Chicago through either O'Hare or Midway airports, please keep the following information mind:
- There are a variety of transit options to get to University Center, including train (the L), Taxi, or rideshare service.
- If you are traveling from O'Hare, you will take the Blue Line from O'Hare to the LaSalle/Van Buren stop. University Center is a short 3 block walk east from the LaSalle/Van Buren stop. Approximately a 50-minute train ride.
- If you are traveling from Midway, you will take the Orange Line from Midway to the Harold Washington Library stop. University center is a short 1 block walk from the Harold Washington stop. Approximately a 40-minute train ride.
- O'Hare and Midway both offer taxi and rideshare options. Simply provide our address (525 S. State Street, Chicago IL 60605) and you will get dropped off right out front. Taxi or rideshare can range from approximately $30-$60. Approximately a 30-60-minute cab ride.
- If needed, speed packs (big boxes on wheels) will be available to check out to help you unload quickly. A state ID will be held until the speed pack is returned
